More about the eScholarship Repository
The repository, sponsored by the California Digital Library, provides persistent access and makes the content easily discoverable. It is a project of the eScholarship initiative of the California Digital Library within the University of California Office of the President. eScholarship, whose mission is to facilitate and support scholar-led innovations in scholarly communication, is providing this and other services in response to an expressed need for alternative publishing mechanisms. This UC Office of the President/CDL initiative stands to benefit the entire university. The California Digital Library, which partners with the 10 UC campuses in a continuing commitment to apply innovative technology to managing scholarly information, opened to the public in January 1999. Organizationally housed at the UC Office of the President in Oakland, the CDL provides a centralized framework to efficiently share materials held by UC, to provide greater and easier access to digital content, and to join with researchers in developing new tools and innovations for scholarly communication. The campus eScholarship liaisons are an important part of the eScholarship program, particularly in disseminating information about the eScholarship Repository and helping groups understand the benefits to joining. Feel free to contact your campus eScholarship liaison to find out more about the eScholarship Repository or eScholarship in general. The eScholarship Repository is powered by tools from the Berkeley Electronic Press. UC licenses this suite of electronic publishing tools on behalf of its faculty. This infrastructure enables the rapid and low-cost creation, management, and dissemination of journals, peer-reviewed series, working papers, discussion papers series, and other electronic forms of scholarship by UC researchers.
