UCIAS Peer Review
To Submit Work for Peer Review An author who wishes to have his or her work peer reviewed should submit an email request to the Managing Editor briefly outlining the project. Editors who wish to submit a collection of papers for publication as an edited volume should submit a proposal to the UCIAS Managing Editor via email in which they briefly discuss the intellectual issues addressed by the volume and how the proposed volume will advance the understanding of those issues. All proposals should include a list of possible titles and potential reviewers.
Peer Review Faculty reviewing articles for the UCIAS Digital Collection are asked to use the same standards they would for a leading journal in the field. We are concerned with originality, coherence, clarity, and significance of the material. Comments, critiques, and suggestions are conveyed to the author, but the reviewer's identity remains confidential.
To be published, an article or monograph must receive two positive reviews, and the author must revise the work to address questions raised in the reviews. Papers submitted as chapters in an edited volume are subject to individual peer review, and each chapter must receive two favorable reviews before it can be published. Volume editors will vet articles that have been revised after peer review to ascertain that appropriate changes have been made. After all the chapters in an edited volume have been peer reviewed, the volume itself is reviewed as a whole. |
