The Department of Statistics at UCI was formed in 2002. There are currently 5 faculty members with additional growth anticipated over the next several years. Faculty research is focused on developing statistical methods to solve applied problems and researching the statistical theory that underlies such methods. Faculty and students emphasize interdisciplinary research collaborations. Existing collaborations of department faculty include researchers from psychology, veterinary medicine, computer networks, astrophysics, and clinical medicine.
